How to Wash Knitwear?

Wool has body temperature regulating and self-cleaning properties; it is breathable and does not absorb odors. Therefore, there is no need to wash knitwear too often. It is sufficient to hang the knitwear in fresh air for a few hours to air out, and its fresh state is guaranteed.

If you feel that the knitwear still needs washing, it should be hand-washed with cold water using only wool wash gel. It is important not to use harsh detergents and bleach, as these can damage the delicate material. Do not rub or wring the knitwear, as this can cause felting.

Our knitwear can also withstand wool wash programs on newer machines. If washing the knitwear in a machine, place it in a laundry bag. Ensure that the water temperature is a maximum of 30 degrees, spin speed not over 800 RPM, and the program is not too long. The ideal wash program is up to 30 minutes.

How to Remove a Stain?

If a stain appears on the knitwear, first try to remove it with water. If the stain persists, apply wool wash gel to a damp cloth and gently dab. Avoid stronger detergents, as they can damage the knitwear’s surface and color.

How to Dry Knitwear?

It is very important to dry the knitwear correctly to maintain its proper shape. Do not hang wet knitwear, as it can stretch out. Roll the wet knitwear into a dry towel, pressing gently. Place the knitwear to dry on a flat surface, either on a dry towel on the floor or on a drying rack. Always shape and smooth the knitwear when laying it out to dry.

How to Store Knitwear?

Wool knitwear is delicate and should be stored folded in a cool, dry place on a shelf. Avoid hanging knitwear on hangers, as this can cause it to stretch out.

Can Knitwear be Steamed?

A garment steamer is the best way to refresh knitwear and is an excellent option for refreshing your wool knitwear between seasonal washes. Steaming can be used to remove wrinkles, bad odors, surface dirt, and bacteria. The heat and moisture of the steam relax the knitwear, smoothing out wrinkles and unevenness caused by folding. Place your garment on an ironing board or another heat-resistant surface and hold the steamer or iron about an inch above it while directing the steam. We recommend testing on a small area first. Do not let the steamer come into contact with the fabric, otherwise, it may burn the knitwear. While the fabric is warm and damp, use your hands to smooth and reshape it to your liking.

How to Protect Knitwear from Moths?

When storing knitwear in the closet, leave space between them, as tightly packed garments create a favorable environment for moths. Placing dried cedar or lavender in the closet can also help protect knitwear from moths. If you plan to pack away knitwear for the summer months, remember to take them out occasionally, gently shake them, and air them out.

A Yarn End Came out of the Knitwear, What to Do?

Sometimes, knitwear can get caught on jewelry or another sharp object, causing a yarn end to pull out. If this happens, it can easily be pulled back into the garment with a crochet hook, for example, or stretched back to its original position by gently pulling the fabric up/down and sideways. Avoid pulling too hard, otherwise, the yarn might break. If you feel that you cannot fix the error yourself, feel free to contact us, and we will help you pull the stretched yarn end back into its original shape.

What if the Knitwear Pills?

Pilling is natural for wool products. Wool softens with each wear, and it is characteristic of wool to develop small pills due to friction, for example, when coming into contact with bags or belts. This can be avoided by not wearing the knitwear with products or materials that cause friction. It is important to understand that pilling does not indicate poor wool quality. Let’s look at it from a positive angle: it actually adds some natural uniqueness to the product. Nowadays, excellent depillers have also been invented that help remove pills from the product’s surface. A depiller should be used carefully and gently on a flat surface. It should not be pressed firmly against the knitwear, as this can damage the knitwear.
